Position description
The Junior Communications Consultant supports the Communications team in advancing PILnet’s mission through day-to-day communications delivery, including digital engagement, web content management, and administrative support for events. The Junior Consultant will report their services to the Communications & Event Manager while working collaboratively across teams to ensure visibility and effective promotion of PILnet’s programs and events, support the creation of high-quality communications outputs, and assist with logistics and planning for PILnet’s Global Forum. The Junior Consultant will also have a specific focus on supporting PILnet’s work on forced displacement.
Key Responsibilities
Communications Support
- Assist in implementing communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
- Under the guidance of the Communications and Events Manager, support program staff in developing communications plans for programs, events, publications, and other initiatives.
- Assist the Communications and Events Manager in maintaining and updating website content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with branding guidelines.
- Provide dedicated communications support to the forced displacement team, including drafting content related to forced displacement initiatives and collaborating with the communications team to ensure their work is regularly highlighted across PILnet’s platforms.
- Ensure communications materials align with PILnet’s brand standards and visual identity.
- Assist (drafting, proofreading) in the production of communications materials such as web posts, brochures, posters, newsletters and digital assets for social media.
Administrative Support for the Global Forum
- Provide logistical and communications support to the Communications Team in preparation for the annual Global Forum.
- Assist with administrative tasks (note-taking, preparing and updating planning documents, organizing planning materials)
- Assist with updating our conference app (uploading speaker bios and photos)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships included) in communications, public relations, digital marketing, or nonprofit communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages a plus but not required).
- Strong Canva skills
- Experience with content creation.
- Familiarity with website content management systems, especially Word Press
- Familiarity with MailChimp a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in forced displacement, social justice, public interest law, or nonprofit sector work is highly desirable.
