Job Description

We have an opening for a Senior Nuclear Nonproliferation Specialist, who will provide experience and understanding of U.S. nonproliferation policy, international nuclear safeguards, multilateral diplomacy, and civil nuclear cooperation and export controls. The successful candidate will support DOE/NNSA’s Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) in Washington, D.C.

This position may require the employee to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift, and/or weekends to accomplish goals. The selected candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

This position will be filled at the SES.3 or SES.4 level based on qualifications, knowledge, and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned commensurate with the hiring level.

In this role, you will

  • Collaborate in the development of strategies and approaches in support of DNN’s civil nuclear cooperation and nonproliferation engagement.
  • Interact with intra-agency and inter-agency stakeholders on a range of nonproliferation and civil nuclear issues.
  • Provide solutions to complex strategic initiatives and conduct policy analysis to anticipate emerging challenges, utilizing all-source information and coordinate inputs from various sets of stakeholders.
  • Set specific technical strategy and direction on DNN’s efforts to plan and implement senior level engagements, events, and activities including with foreign governments and multilateral organizations. 
  • Exert significant influence on technical objectives related to pressing international security issues with complex technical and policy components in the areas of nonproliferation and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In addition, at the SES.4 level

  • Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with sponsors, customers, and stakeholders to ensure exquisite execution of projects and satisfaction of commitments.
  • Lead the development of strategies and approaches in support of DNN’s civil nuclear cooperation and nonproliferation engagement.
  • Set specific technical strategy and direction on DNN’s efforts to plan and implement senior level engagements, events, and activities including with foreign governments and multilateral organizations.

Qualifications

Additional job qualifications, at the SES.4 level

Pay Range

$175,530 - $222,564 Annually for the SES.3 level 

$210,630 - $267,060 Annually for the SES.4 level 

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
