Summary:
The Director, Social Purpose Organizations will be a central connection point to our SPO client community, translating our strategic direction into our ways of working day-to-day. This critical new role for CAF America will serve to keep our offering and services in alignment with client needs and expectations, while investing in and evolving our operations for excellence in client service and efficiencies for both internal and external stakeholders so that together we foster a favorable global giving environment.
Sitting in the center of the giving world, CAF is fortunate to serve both philanthropists and social purpose organization leaders/organizations alike, building connections and pathways to foster a favorable global giving environment, connecting people and organizations to do their part. The director will serve on behalf of the international social purpose organization to keep connections strong, evolving and building ties and community through their day-to-day execution of our operations, development of proactive initiatives, and external culture carrying. The director will pull together both internal and external communities to help us enhance CAF America’s role with SPO’s around the globe.
This position is U.S.-based. All duties must be carried out from within the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operational and Execution strategy and implementation for ongoing stewardship, and proactive development to CAF’s Global Charity Database amplifying and lifting up opportunities for global philanthropic investment into social purpose organizations and causes across the globe.
- Provide overall operational leadership for other SPO audience product and services for CAF America (including but not limited to Friends Funds, Network partnerships, Global Charity Database, Cause Area of Interest Funds)
- Collaborate and support the VP, Grant Services in SPO work alignment across the organization (including Global Charity Database, Global Relief Navigator listing, validations, partnerships, etc.)
- Engage and provide proactive contributions to CAF America’s voice around thought leadership, research, and learnings with our audiences around SPOs.
- Bring and continue to develop your own voice/leadership for the philanthropy community around international philanthropy and the balance/efforts for SPOs around the globe.
- Project lead for strategic cross collaboration across senior management teams when needed to advance offerings/work of social purpose audience (product, finance, external relations, due diligence & risk, tech, private client, corporate client)
- Day-to-Day management of the Friends Fund team, including oversight of budgeting, revenue forecasting and resolving client escalations
- Leads proactive SPO engagement to expand CAF America’s partnerships with high impact organizations, supporting organizational objectives related to cause area, client needs, and regional strategy
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8 years+ experience in international social purpose organization with a focus on systems, collaboration, and client relationship management
- At least 5 years of both systems and people leadership experience
- A lifelong learner/advocate for the potential of philanthropy and philanthropy networks for advancement of social purpose leaders and their causes globally.
- Proven track record of building and cultivating strong relationships in a global context
- Deep understanding of international philanthropy, including donor and grantmaking strategies, regulations, and cultural nuances
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Strategic and organizational thinker, prioritization setter, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in technology to advance client/donor management software and CRM systems
- A passion for international development and social impact
- Experience working cross culturally and globally preferred
