Position description

Minimum salary for this position is $6,375 per section, based on a 25% effort appointment. The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the Lecturer I level for the period of August 24 through December 12, 2026.  The position requires teaching one or more 3-credit-hour (25% effort) undergraduate courses in an online, asynchronous format. Applicants may apply to teach one course, all listed courses, or any combination of the courses and sections listed below. Final course assignments will be based on departmental need and candidate availability. Applicants should indicate which course or courses, sections, and meeting times they are interested in and available to teach. The budget for this position is for the fall 2026 term only.

Course Description

Theory and practice of democratic government in the United States and the institutions and processes of American government as manifestations of democratic values. Representative democracy, federalism, the Presidency, Congress, the Courts, political parties, interest groups, and voting as expressions of, and at times contradictions to, democratic values. Graded ABCDE

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Prospective candidates should minimally possess a master’s degree in political science or public administration. Graduate work must have been completed within an accredited program. Evidence of relevant teaching experience is required.

 Desired Qualifications

Formal training in political science and experience in teaching at the post-secondary level.
