Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Assistant handles the operational and administrative workload that enables NP’s Communication strategies and plans to run smoothly; managing scheduling, formatting, organizing digital assets, preparing drafts, and supporting routine updates across social media and the website. The Communications Assistant ensures consistent execution, workflow efficiency, and the day-to-day maintenance that keeps the Communications ecosystem functioning effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Format, upload, and publish content across social media platforms.
- Ensure all content is accessible and discoverable — applying alt text, captions, tagging, and link formatting across platforms.
- Support translation workflows to extend the reach of NP's work across languages.
- Draft social media assets, including:
- Graphics using branded templates
- Short video clips (cutting, trimming, subtitling)
- Media resized and optimized for platform specifications
- Upload press clips, blogs, and publications to the website, keeping NP's digital presence current and organized.
- Monitor incoming comments and messages across channels, flagging and routing as appropriate.
- Pull and compile analytics from social and web dashboards to help inform communications performance.
- Monitor breaking news, media trends, and viral stories that align with NP’s work to help identify potential media opportunities,
- Support in the research and update of NP’s Master Media List, and consolidate the contacts on Cision into the same list.
- Help track and record NP’s media outreach efforts and media hits on Salesforce.
- Help create a regular newsletter featuring NP’s media mentions and other relevant humanitarian stories where NP has a presence
- Perform additional tasks and duties as the teams needs evolve and as identified by the supervisor
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in Communications strategies, tactics, and platforms
- Knowledge of current events and social issues, an interest in civilian protection and nonviolent methods
- Able to follow written and verbal directions well, able to work autonomously
- Commitment to work cooperatively and grow personally
- Commitment to the mission of Nonviolent Peaceforce

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at all times
