Communications Officer

Position description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to support our public communications, with a focus on circular economy topics, and help create impact through innovative communications strategies. Your key challenge will be to translate our love of technical environmental policies and processes into clear and engaging narratives and to grow our impact in circular economy, nature protection and restoration, and horizontal standardisation.

As part of the ECOS Communications and Membership Department, you will report to the Senior Press and Communications Manager.

Your main tasks

• Help drive our public communications with a focus on topics related to circular economy and nature protection and restoration, as well as standardisation policy, ensuring the overall strategy is translated into communications initiatives that support the narrative and objectives;
• Support the team in designing and implementing impactful communications strategies and content, including reports, blogs, opinion pieces, and more, making use of innovative approaches to digital and offline communications to disseminate our messages;
• Help improve ECOS digital channels and digital tactics;
• Ensure editing, quality control and design of internal and external publications;
• Coordinate the drafting and dissemination of the ECOS monthly Newsletter;
• Coordinate ECOS engagement in the communication activities within our collaborative multi-stakeholder actions;
• Contribute your expertise to a number of ECOS-led initiatives involving members and partners;
• Support in organising ECOS events, both physical and online.

• A six month Belgian contract, with the possibility to extend according to budget availabilities and performance, with a competitive salary package between €3,279 – €3,910 per month according to the ECOS salary scale:
  • Exact salary will be determined on skills and relevant experience of the candidate.

Qualifications

Professional and technical experience

• 1 – 3 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role, preferably in an NGO environment;
• Proven experience and success in implementing impactful communications strategies;
• Experience in planning, executing, and monitoring projects, including timeline management;
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders;
• Experience in events management is an asset;
• Experience with Google Analytics, SEO, SEM, Google Ads, WordPress, and CMS is an asset.

Skills

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
• Excellent written and spoken English, with very good editing and proof-reading skills (a must);
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, and ability to transform complex technical issues into engaging calls to action;
• Ability to work in multicultural environments and good interpersonal skills;
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate technical content into relatable information;
• Excellent time and project management skills;
