The European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) is a patient-led NGO that advocates for excellent care, treatment, and prevention of HIV and related infections. We fight for equitable access to healthcare for all affected communities across Europe.

The internship

Are you passionate about social justice, global health, science and community advocacy? We are looking for a motivated intern to join us for a structured, 12-month professional immersion plan. You will progressively learn how to support HIV-related projects, community engagement activities, and NGO administrative workflows.

Your Skills & Background

• Education & Experience: Relevant academic background or equivalent work experience. Previous experience in the NGO sector is considered an asset. An academic focus on Gender Studies, Diversity & Inclusion, Social Science, Human Rights, Medical Science or Public Health is a strong advantage;
• Communication: Excellent command of written and spoken English with strong writing skills. Any additional language is an asset. Excellent command of creating and critically evaluating AI-generated content, with strong analytical and editorial expertise;
• Technical: Prior experience in supporting project coordination and administration, social media management, or using CMS/website tools is a plus.

Logistics & Eligibility

• Right to Work: You must hold EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship, a valid Belgian residence permit, or a visa that legally allows you to undertake a training contract in Belgium;
• Relocation: Ability to move to Belgium in time for the start of the internship;
• Travel: Willingness and availability to travel if required.

What You Will Learn & Do

Over 12 months, your responsibilities and autonomy will grow through a structured learning plan, including the following

• Months 1–4 (Foundations & Autonomy): Learn the basics of HIV advocacy, support project coordination, handle basic admin tasks, learn internal tools, shadow managers, begin drafting documentation, monitor and report on upcoming key events and fundraising opportunities as well as support community engagement and conduct desk research;
• Months 5–8 (Project Support & Coordination): Help coordinate event logistics, draft social media and newsletter content, manage segments of ongoing projects and activities. Report on events/activities and produce communication materials;
• Months 9–12 (Advanced Coordination & Growth): Manage full workflows independently, prepare detailed project documentation, support monitoring and evaluation activities, take full ownership of coordinating a small project or project segment with limited supervision, and engage in career planning.

• Financial Package: €1,300 gross per month plus 100% public transport subscription (home - office);
