European Schoolnet (EUN) is the network of 34 European Ministries of Education, based in Brussels. As a non-profit international organisation, we bring innovation in teaching and learning to our key stakeholders - Ministries of Education, schools, teachers, researchers and industry partners. Our mission is to support education stakeholders across Europe in transforming education processes for 21st-century, digitalized societies.
EUN operates on the European School Education Platform under contract for the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), on behalf of the European Commission. Launched in 2022, The European School Education Platform is the central meeting point for all stakeholders in school education - from early childhood and primary through to secondary and initial vocational education and training. It is also home to eTwinning, Europe's largest teacher community, bringing together over one million school staff from more than 40 countries.
Your role
We are looking for two Officer profiles to join the European School Education Platform and eTwinning team: one with a stronger focus on professional development and one combining pedagogy and community engagement activities .
Both positions will contribute to the development of high-quality pedagogical activities and professional development opportunities for teachers across Europe. The roles combine work on educational content, teacher professional development, online and hybrid activities, community engagement and collaboration with teachers, experts and European partners.
Working closely with the Project Manager and Work Package Leaders, you will contribute to the development of pedagogical frameworks, learning activities and resources, and, depending on the focus of the position, to the development and engagement of online teacher communities.
Both positions offer a great opportunity to work in an international environment, liaising with colleagues and partners from across Europe.
While the two positions share a common set of responsibilities , they will have different areas of focus depending on the successful candidates' background, interests and the needs of the team .
Common tasks
Both profiles will contribute to:
- Supporting the design, development and continuous improvement of pedagogical content and resources, including educational resources, teaching materials, lesson plans, training materials and other pedagogical formats.
- Supporting the organisation and delivery of online and hybrid events for international audiences, including teacher conferences, professional development workshops, thematic events, community online events and expert sessions.
- Supporting the organisation and moderation of webinars , including liaising with experts, preparing sessions and moderating live activities.
- Supporting the development and implementation of innovative pedagogical formats and contributing to their piloting and evaluation.
- Working with teachers, experts, schools and European partners to support the development and delivery of pedagogical activities.
- Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of activities , including data collection and analysis, interviews and feedback from participants.
- Contributing to project reports, deliverables and communication materials related to pedagogical and professional development activities.
Area of focus
Depending on the candidate's background and relevant experience, one of the following areas of focus may apply:
Focus 1 - Professional development
The successful candidate will have a stronger focus on the pedagogical and learning dimension , with particular attention to:
- Supporting the design, delivery and evaluation of professional development opportunities for teachers, including MOOCs, online courses, webinars and face-to-face workshops
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of pedagogical approaches, frameworks and learning formats.
- Contributing to the design and development of innovative learning experiences for teachers.
- Supporting the development and piloting of new pedagogical formats and approaches.
- Contributing to the analysis and evaluation of pedagogical activities, using feedback and data to identify areas for improvement.
- Supporting the development of pedagogical content and resources adapted to the needs of teachers and learners.
Focus 2 - Pedagogy and Community Engagement
The successful candidate will contribute to the pedagogical dimension of the role , while having an additional strong focus on building, engaging and developing ESEP and eTwinning teacher communities .
The main areas of focus will include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of community engagement strategies for ESEP and eTwinning teacher communities.
- Supporting the planning and animation of ESEP and eTwinning teacher communities, with a focus on collaboration, peer learning and sustained participation.
- Supporting the identification, recognition and engagement of community power users, such as eTwinning Ambassadors, expert teachers and teacher educators.
- Supporting community engagement and stakeholder activities involving teachers, schools, experts, National Support Organisations and European partners.
- Supporting the organisation of community events, such as thematic discussions, partner-finding fairs, project showcases and teacher conferences.
- Supporting the implementation of evaluation and recognition frameworks through the effective management of Labels and Prizes.
- Supporting in the preparation of guidance materials and resources for different target audiences.
Qualifications
- A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Educational Sciences, Educational Technology, Teacher Education, Learning Sciences or a related discipline).
- An initial experience in one or more areas relevant to the position , such as working with teachers, professional development, pedagogy, educational content, online learning or teacher communities.
- A good understanding of pedagogical issues and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and the ability to translate these into materials or activities for end-users.
- An interest in online learning and digital educational environments . Knowledge of learning management systems such as Moodle is an asset.
- Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills .
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage several activities and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, experts and international stakeholders .
- Excellent command of English , both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
- Experience with European education initiatives, Erasmus+ and/or European Commission competence frameworks are an asset.
- Proficiency in digital collaboration and online facilitation tools .
- A proactive, flexible and solution-oriented mindset .
- Strong intercultural skills and the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
Useful information
- Deadline for applications: until the position is filled.
- Duration of contract: 12-month CDD (Contract Duration Determinée - a fixed-term contract) according to Belgian standard conditions ( renewable or leading to a CDI if mutually agreed ). Full time from Monday to Friday (possibility to choose between 38 or 40 hours / week ).
