Position description

Clean Air Fund is looking for an Analyst to join its team in Johannesburg on a full-time, 6-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover), with an expected start date of 2 November 2026. Salary: ZAR 650,000. The role supports both the South Africa country office and the Breathe Cities Johannesburg portfolio, helping design, manage and monitor programmes, partnerships and grants that contribute to cleaner air and healthier communities.

Key responsibilities:
- Support the design, management and monitoring of philanthropic programmes and initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate grants and grant-related processes.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
- Support communications and engagement activities across relevant programmes.
- Contribute to strategy development within your main area of work.
- Coordinate projects and workstreams across multiple teams in a matrix environment.
- Monitor progress, prepare reports and keep colleagues informed of key developments.

Qualifications

Essential experience and skills:
- Experience managing projects within an international non-governmental organisation, philanthropic organisation or related sector in South Africa or elsewhere in Africa.
- Experience working on environmental, public health and/or air quality issues.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of sectors.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Experience working across different cultural and socio-economic contexts, with cultural sensitivity.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing, grant management, minute-taking, presentations and stakeholder engagement.
