Main purpose of job: This job offers the successful candidate an opportunity to work for the British Office Taipei (BOT), as part of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) team. The intern will work with Taiwanese investors, businesses, research institutions and government stakeholders in a high-profile bilingual environment.
The role seeks an intern to join our team and support the delivery of BIST's investment objectives in Taiwan. The role will focus on providing administrative, research and project support for investment promotion activity, helping the team identify and develop opportunities aligned with UK priorities including advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, AI infrastructure, clean energy and research-intensive sectors. The successful candidate will also provide flexible support across wider office priorities as required.
BIST's role is to promote the UK's economic interests worldwide. The job holder will contribute to the UK's prosperity by supporting efforts to attract high-value investment into the UK, strengthen UK-Taiwan commercial and research links, and promote the UK's strengths as a trusted destination for investment, innovation and growth. Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
The successful candidate will support the team's overall performance, administration and delivery of investment activities. Responsibilities will include conducting market and sector research, maintaining stakeholder and contact databases, supporting investor engagement activity, assisting with account management and pipeline tracking, coordinating meetings and visits, and helping to deliver projects that promote UK-Taiwan investment collaboration. The role will also provide flexible administrative and operational support across the wider team as required.
