International Trade in Services Adviser and Deputy Manager

Position description

BUSINESSEUROPE SEEKS TO FILL THE FOLLOWING POSITION: International Trade in Services Adviser and Deputy Manager for its European Services Forum (ESF) Group.

THE POSITION:

The ESF Group is part of BusinessEurope. The main objective of the group is to promote the interests of the European services sector and the liberalisation of services markets worldwide through both WTO negotiations and the EU’s regional and bilateral trade negotiations.

We are seeking an Adviser and Deputy Manager with experience in preparing analysis and recommendations on international trade in services and investments (WTO, Plurilateral, Bilateral and regional free trade and investment agreements and other EU policies and legislation that would impact trade in services). In this role, you will work with the members of the ESF Group to draft policy positions and develop advocacy actions, keep them informed of relevant developments in different files, prepare and coordinate internal and external meetings where the ESF Group interests must be represented. Liaise with relevant EU and multilateral institutions and other international sector organisations.

Qualifications

• a university degree in economics, international relations, law or similar;
• around 5 years of relevant professional experience;
• good knowledge of international trade and trade policy in general as well as in trade in services;
• good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions;
• the ability to read and process statistical data;
• the ability to transform technical input into clear messages and adapt to the audience;
• the ability to assimilate the various aspects of an issue rapidly and to meet tight deadlines;
• the ability to define and implement advocacy strategies;
• excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. A good knowledge of other European languages is an asset;
• a proven record in managing projects, including in budget preparation and execution;
• proficiency in IT tools;
• a pro-active and dynamic personality and be able to work independently as well as in a team, multitask, well-organised, flexible.
