Position description

Monmouth College, a selective, private, residential liberal arts college in Illinois invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning July 2017. We are seeking a broadly trained Political Scientist who could teach courses in international relations and political philosophy. A Ph.D. is required for this position but ABD candidates will be considered.

Candidates must show enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teaching and for participating in general education, including Monmouth’s Integrated Studies Curriculum and advancing a growing Pre-Law Program. A commitment to the liberal arts and an appreciation for the small college learning environment is essential.

Located in the welcoming community of Monmouth, Illinois, the college is a member of the prestigious Associated Colleges of the Midwest. Following the adoption and implementation of a groundbreaking interdisciplinary general education curriculum and the continuation of a bold strategic plan entitled “Think Anew, Act Anew,” the college is now prepared to move confidently forward as an innovator among liberal arts colleges. The college has invested $120 Million into campus facilities since 2002 and this year Money Magazine ranked Monmouth 28th out of 736 “Best Colleges” in the Most Affordable Private Colleges category. The Princeton Review named Monmouth a “Best in the Midwest” in its 2015 Best Colleges Survey.
