The Assistant Director of Student Activities for International Student Engagement is an integral part of the daily operation of the Office of Student Activities, as well as the Division of Student Life. Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Activities for Diversity Engagement, the Assistant Director provides leadership and support for the programs and services related to the University’s undergraduate international student population. The Assistant Director supports the University community by understanding and responding to the unique needs of international students, and serving as a liaison with academic and administrative units. The University is committed to diversity and has a long-term strategic goal to increase the enrollment of international students.
Additionally, the Assistant Director will collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Student Activities to further its strategic initiatives related to diversity & inclusion, new student orientation, programming, student government, student center operations, and student organizations. In so doing, the Assistant Director will support the mission of Student Activities to create a vibrant campus in which students enjoy a broad experience within a close-knit community. Finally, the Assistant Director will support the learning outcomes of the Division of Student Life.

Bachelor’s degree required.
1-3 years of professional experience in the development and implementation of international student services-related programs in higher education.
Understanding of student development and identity development theories and practical applications is essential.
Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and intercultural intelligence/cultural humility work is required.
Demonstrated ability to research, comprehend, analyze, and apply immigration regulations is required.
Must meet federal eligibility requirements to be a DSO, including US citizenship and permanent residence.
Must have excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Customer service oriented.
Ability to interact with a diverse population and maintain a positive attitude in time of crisis.
Master’s degree in International Education, Cultural Studies, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or other related field highly preferred.
Experience working, living, or studying abroad, as well as fluency in one or more languages other than English is preferred.
Knowledge of F-1, including Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) reporting requirements and awareness of Department of Homeland Security, as well as Department of State, regulations is preferred.
Experience as a DSO is preferred.
Experience with student organization advising is preferred.
Understanding of the importance of student learning outcomes and assessment preferred.
