Position description

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking an inquisitive journalist to pursue investigative projects for MBN in Springfield, VA. MBN is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster that provides news and information to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio and digital properties. 

The Investigative Reporter will generate, research and report  short, mid and long-form stories, utilizing their strong writing and storytelling skills, through investigation and data driven research.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Investigative Reporter include, but are not limited to:

          Cultivating and maintaining credible news sources

·         Identifying and pitching investigative news stories

·         Writing online versions of investigative reports and adapting them for radio service as well

·         Conducting interviews with news sources having a wide variety of views and expertise

·         Writing compelling scripts and overseeing production to ensure broadcast quality of stories and reports.

·         Utilize info-graphics and graphic designs to sharpen script focus and data presentation

·         Checking reports for balance, clarity, and objectivity to ensure they are free of bias and advocacy

Qualifications

·         B.A. degree in Journalism or Communications

·         At least 7 year experience as  a reporter

·         Demonstrated strong editorial judgment and organizational skills

·         Ability to communicate and translate from English to classic Arabic

·         Superior story writing and storytelling ability

·         Proficient with internet, database and computer assisted reporting techniques

·         Strong communications skills
