Position description

The Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) mission is to provide standardized advanced training and certification to Ground Combat Element (GCE) Operations Officers, Operations Chiefs, and select other GCE training specialists in GCE operations, combined arms planning and integration, and unit readiness planning at the company, battalion, and regiment levels to support GCE Training and Readiness (T&R) events. 

The Threat Emulation Red Cell will support the MCTOG and be responsible for the development, maintenance, and update of exercise materials in accordance with (IAW) the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) User’s Guide. 

Key Accountabilities 

Develop adversary operational concepts and execute these concepts against the training audience in simulated exercises. 

Create injected intelligence products that represent a realistic Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) feed to the training audience. 

Enable the synchronization of Joint partners and interagency contributors to depict enemy activities to the training audience. 

Conduct Red Cell planning and execution ISO exercises. 

Contributes to exercise orders, CONOPs, and operations process cycles across all six warfighter functions and social media. 

Play the roles of subordinate enemy commanders during exercises. 

Knowledge and Skills 

Possesses strong open source intelligence skills, with the ability to conduct research on contemporary and emerging threats. 

Familiarity with master scenario event development, exercise synchronization, and expeditionary military operations. 

Possesses experience with combined arms, irregular, and insurgent warfare (demonstrable by experience, achievements, or education), including foreign weapons and tactics that are appropriate to the modern operational environment. 

Demonstrates creativity in tactical and operational concepts, and demonstrates the ability to portray plausible, credible, and adaptive contemporary enemies. 

Possesses military experience in combat arms or intelligence and military exercises (e.g., simulated, force-on-force or tabletop). 

Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team. 

Possess self-motivation and a high level of discretion to work effectively under a minimum level of supervision. 

Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., strategic studies, international relations) and 10 years of experience with specialized training required or a Master’s Degree and 8 years of experience with specialized training is preferred. 

Career Level School (Expeditionary Warfare School [EWS]). 

MAGTF Intelligence Officer’s Course or service equivalents is preferred for those with an officer background. USMC Staff NCO Academy, IULC, MAGTF Intelligence School, or service equivalents is preferred for those with an enlisted background. 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
occasional field/tactical environments 

occasional extended working hours will be required 

Schedule: M-F 0700 to 1700 

Travel 

May be required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training or maintenance. 

Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
