Position description

The Department of Government at William & Mary invites applications for a one year, non-tenure-track visiting position that will begin August 10, 2018. We seek an individual with expertise in international relations. The successful applicant will be expected to be an effective teacher and will have a 3-3 teaching load (2 preps per semester). Courses will consist of introduction to international politics, intermediate-level international security, and a senior seminar of the candidate’s choosing. We are especially interested in candidates who can draw on their expertise or examples in racial or ethnic politics, or the politics of inclusion as they teach these subjects.

We are one of the largest majors on campus and our faculty participate in and receive support from various research centers on campus as well. Our faculty also contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Africana Studies, Data Science, Environmental Science and Policy, Gender Sexuality and Women’s Studies, Global Studies, International Relations, and Public Policy. William & Mary is located in Williamsburg, Virginia, convenient to Richmond (the state capital) and Washington, DC.


Required Qualifications

ABD status required at the time appointment begins August 10, 2018. Applicants must be able to teach introductory international politics and intermediate-level international security.

Preferred Qualifications

A Ph.D. is preferred at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2018).
