Position description

The Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Partnerships team is one of three regional teams within Americares Global Partnerships department.  Each team serves the regions in which they work by coordinating with local partners to deliver in-kind medical aid, design and implement emergency management and public health programs and provide disaster relief. 

The Senior Associate develops and manages Americares relationship with these partner organizations. She/he will develop an in-depth understanding of the needs and conditions of their assigned countries, prepare annual plans and play an active leading role in determining the scheduling and content of medical aid shipments as well as assessing opportunities for and implementation of targeted initiatives and partner capacity building projects. The Senior Associate also provides administrative and logistic support to partner organizations and conducts research activities as assigned by the Regional Director. Administrative activities include tracking shipments and maintaining program records of historical partner information and current activities. Research includes gaining insight into local health priorities, regulatory issues and initiatives of other local and international health organizations. The Senior Associate ensures that required reporting materials are sent to and received from partners and solicits additional feedback on partner health care facility needs and partner medical aid distribution activities.


Partnership Management

  • Liaise with adjacent Americares departments to facilitate medical aid shipment development and delivery process.
  • Maintain regular correspondence with partners to provide updated information regarding relevant resource availability (e.g., upcoming shipments, products donation offers) and collect information and reporting (e.g., signed manifests, distribution reporting).
  • Develop and maintain a shared understanding of partnership expectations, including nature and volume of product donations, impact of product donations on partner organization’s health care facility network, Americares policies and standards and respective organizational capabilities.
  • Provide effective support of data collection, analysis and reporting to manage and expand the scope of partnership medical aid operations.
  • Conduct annual partner visits to assess partner health care facility network medical aid distribution activities, examine opportunities to institute operational efficiencies and collect information to showcase the value of Americares partnerships in the region.
  • Collaborate with the team  in the design and implementation of  regional and country specific health  projects and programs. 

Partner Advocacy/Internal Networking

  • Prepare reports regarding partner activities to internal and external constituents including Americares Communications and Development departments and in-kind and financial donors.
  • Assist the regional Director with the preparation of new partner applications and moving applications through the approval process.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support including handling business correspondence, meeting preparation, database and file management, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Actively participate in department task forces as well as provide leadership and/or support on department wide initiatives.


  • Conduct research on health and regulatory issues in assigned countries to inform the development of partnership, country and regional plans;
  • Research activities of national Ministries of Health as well as other NGOs actively engaged in assigned countries’ health sectors to assess new support and collaboration opportunities.

Program development and management

  • Facilitate partner grant making process including program design support, program implementation monitoring and ensuring grant reports are received on time and are of high quality.
  • Coordinate with Americares Development department and assigned partners to identify and develop proposals for new health program financing opportunities with an emphasis on access to medicine and medical supplies, community health clinics, non-communicable disease management, community disaster preparedness and women and children’s health. 
  • Support Americares Emergency Response department as needed in remote and in-country disaster response activities, including partner vetting, needs assessments, product donation management, grant making and reporting.

·         Bachelor’s degree required with a degree in international; relations/development/business/economics, Latin American studies, global health and/or pre-med preferred; Master’s degree in relevant field a plus

·         Literacy and fluency in written and spoken Spanish required;

·         2-3 years regional experience 

·         Prior business process and international partner management experience including business communications, budgeting, presentation experience and Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint);

·         Demonstrated ability to work across cultures and language barriers;  

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communications skills; curiosity to understand partners’ interests, commitment , energy to advocate for partner with internal and external constituents and ability to develop & maintain effective partnerships;

·         Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

·         Travel required – (30-40%)
