Position description

The European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) is a pan-European organisation dedicated to the support and recognition of cancer nurses. Through our individual members and national societies we engage in projects to help nurses develop their skills, network with each other and raise the profile of cancer nursing across Europe.

Within EONS, four working groups drive our work: Communications, Advocacy, Research and Education (C.A.R.E). The groups meet on average once a year and in between times work remotely to further their objectives and the organisation’s strategic goals. We are currently looking for someone support EONS and the working groups in two ways: by staying abreast of relevant related policy areas such as health workforce mobility, cancer prevention, professional qualifications and patient safety as an information conduit for members and assisting in organising the working group’s annual meetings, taking minutes, supporting communications between meetings and follow-up. The project officer will work closely with the chairs of the working groups and report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Good project management skills are certainly needed, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people from many different cultures and countries. This is a part-time position for 4 days per week (32hrs) with the flexibility to work from home one or two days per week and an initial one year contract with possibility for renewal.

Key Tasks

  • Providing effective administrative support to EONS, the four working groups and related activities as identified by the EONS Board & COO;

  • Developing a network that would be useful to help EONS achieve our goals and strengthen the working groups.

As a core member of EONS’ team, the project officer will also be required to support our annual meetings and conferences together with the COO, Communications Manager, Membership Coordinator and International Relations and Fundraising manager.

A Master’s degree in any humanities subjects, public health or political science.

  • Minimum one year’s experience in international affairs, either in internships or paid positions. As much attention will be paid to competences and capacity to evolve with the job.

Preferred skills

  • Flexibility, willingness to learn, good intercultural and team-working skills;
  • Proven project management experience;
  • Fluent in English with a good knowledge of French, capacity to communicate well in Spanish would be an added advantage;
