The Threat Team Analytics Lead will possess unique expertise in various specialties, including open-source analysis, cultural analysis, intelligence analysis, and/or language analysis. The individual will be responsible for analyzing information, providing judgements, and making recommendations to support decision makers. The Threat Team Analytics Lead will apply foreign language skills, cultural knowledge, and subject matter expertise to understand foreign websites, social media outlets, traditional press outlets, adversary tools and tactics, and intelligence reporting. These efforts are essential to the success of the client’s ability to leverage subject matter expertise against adverse effects of propaganda and disinformation efforts of our adversaries which threaten U.S. national security interests. 

The Threat Team Analytics Lead will contribute their unique expertise to conduct target development, cultural analysis, media assessment, all source intelligence analysis, and provide language comprehension. This unique expertise is essential to our ability to recognize and discover the propaganda and disinformation activities of our adversaries, attribute those activities to specific actors, to monitor the dissemination of those activities, and to evaluate the impact of those activities. This client work is performed through diligent use of scientific techniques for qualitative and quantitative analysis. The Threat Team Analytics Lead will be required to perform across a variety of data sources including social media, traditional media, protected sources across the interagency, data available for purchase, and from client partners. The individual will be required to use their skills and expertise to inform client operational efforts and ensure effectiveness.

The Threat Team Analytics Lead is responsible for the research of major geographical areas and/or technology issues with worldwide implications - synthesizing information from one or more sources to produce an integrated analysis to inform or to provide decision advantage to senior decision makers. The individual will apply knowledge of concepts and terminology, policies and directives, organizational missions, and functions. This opportunity requires experienced counter-terrorism skills, including a strong tradecraft and interpersonal skills, integrating analysis of disinformation and propaganda from state and non-state actors. Propaganda and disinformation is a growing national security concern, making this position an excellent opportunity for individuals with background in regional or functional relevant national security issues to gain expertise with the counter disinformation and counter propaganda mission set. Experience with disinformation, propaganda, and/or recruitment strategies is required. 

Role responsibilities include:

  • Plan, prepare, and present written and oral briefings to senior internal and external customers and analytic counterparts on significant intelligence issues; clearly articulate concepts to non-expert customers, and tailor the product to correspond to customer needs.
  • Make disinformation and propaganda analysis / stories approachable in a way that allows customers to understand the significance of the information and identify opportunities to take action in the interests of U.S. national security. 
  • Cultivate communities of interest and identify key internal and external sources of information that meet customer and self-derived needs.
  • Address analytic gaps across the client.
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, experts, embassies, consulates, the U.S. interagency, policy committees, and foreign partners, as appropriate, and leverage these relationships to share information of interest. 
  • Perform other unspecified analytical duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Skills & Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject matter area, or closely related discipline (Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science degrees); 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
  • 4 years experience in statistical analysis and data analytics tools (SQL, R, Stata, Python); network analysis, machine learning tools and/or natural language processing
  • 2 years experience (either academic or work) effectively planning, researching, developing, and authoring high-quality, complex analyses, studies, projects, assignments, and briefings on key U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives focused on a specific region or transnational issue
  • 2 years experience leading and promoting the development and use of a broad range of methodological tools and approaches to research, analyze, and present data
  • Demonstrated ability to support group decisions and solicit perspectives from coworkers
  • Demonstrated ability to promote information sharing practices across the client
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of diplomatic, intelligence, military, and law enforcement organizations in order to provide tailored responses that meet client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce finished analytical reports related to subject matter issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment, and mentor junior colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to apply interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and negotiating skills to resolve significant and controversial issues

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in subject matter area or closely related discipline (Statistics, Analytics, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 2 years experience in supporting counterintelligence missions with a specific focus on analytical reporting and/or countering disinformation and propaganda
  • 2 years experience in supporting counterintelligence missions with a specific focus on Russian geographies and Russian influence globally
  • 2 years experience (either academic or work) effectively planning, researching, developing, and authoring high-quality, complex analyses, studies, projects, assignments, and briefings on key U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives focused on a Russian geographies and Russian influence globally
  • Demonstrated ability to execute senior-level guidance in a fast-paced environment and accomplish strategic goals using metrics and other measures of effectiveness to track program success
  • Demonstrated ability to brief client executive leadership in issues related to Russian geographies and Russian influence globally

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
