The New York Times Audio Team is seeking a news assistant in the New York office who will help with the digital rollout of our podcasts and with audience development efforts. We need a strong writer who will bring editorial rigor to the job, a creative thinker who is passionate about news and a podcast enthusiast. They should have a meticulous attention to detail and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative, deadline-driven environment. And they should be able to juggle a variety of tasks to support various shows and series the Audio team is putting out.
Responsibilities will include:
Producing article pages for shows and series.
Producing “The Daily” newsletter every week.
Creating, proofing and publishing transcripts.
Maximizing promotion of shows and series across The Times’s platforms.
Recommending creative audience development plans for episodes, leveraging social media platforms, push notifications, SEO best practices, etc.
Assisting in projects to deepen listener engagement, such as posting and moderating discussions in the Podcast Club Facebook group.
Monitoring incoming emails, curating listener feedback and responding to listeners when appropriate.
In coordination with senior leadership, writing award submissions.
Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Optimistic and enthusiastic, a constructive problem solver.
Able to multitask, well organized, accustomed to complex stakeholder ecosystems.
Collaborative and team-oriented.
An excellent communicator in speech and writing, comfortable taking and giving feedback.
Familiar working with audience insights.
Media savvy with a strong interest in journalism.
