Position description

The National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP), a nonprofit membership organization, is seeking a full-time Program Assistant for an immediate start. The Program Assistant will be responsible for assisting with a broad spectrum of administrative tasks, supporting events and conferences, and contributing to the wide-ranging scope of activities undertaken by the NCAFP and its flagship program, the Forum on Asia-Pacific Security (FAPS). The Program Assistant will report directly to the NCAFP President. More information on the NCAFP is available at www.ncafp.org.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Wide-ranging administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the organization; 
  • Work with NCAFP staff to maintain comprehensive records in a web-based CRM;
  • Coordinate venue details, travel, reimbursements and other details for varied institutional events; including evening lectures, daytime roundtables and periodic conferences;
  • Contribute to maintaining the NCAFP website and social media accounts;
  • Work closely with staff in support of overall institutional priorities and provide assistance across project lines as needed.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Exceptional organizational, great attention to detail, and well-honed time-management skills;
  • Technology savvy: proficient with MS Office Suite, website and database management;
  • Can-do attitude and entrepreneurial spirit;
  • Self-motivated, adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing work;
  • A significant level of tact, diplomacy, and maturity in dealing with internal and external contacts is essential.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, international relations or related field required;
  • 1-3 years of experience in nonprofits, government, or other related internationally-focused space;
  • Working knowledge of U.S. foreign policy and/or international affairs; candidates with experience or academic background in Asia-Pacific security issues are encouraged to apply;
  • Applicants for this position must be available for immediate employment and possess current US work authorization valid for a minimum of two years from start date.

 

The position begins in early 2020. No relocation benefits are available. Salary is commensurate with background and experience. The NCAFP offers a comprehensive benefits package including employer-paid health/dental/vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer-matched contributions, and a generous personal leave policy.
