Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Office Accommodation Shop (OAS), Office Space and Assets Unit (OSAU), Planning, Design and Construction Section (PDCS), Facilities and Commercial Service (FCAS), Division of Administration, NY (DA), Department of Support (DOS). The incumbent reports to the Foreman (TC-7) of the Accommodation Shop.
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Leads a group of 4 to 5 movers in connection with the move of entire sections from one location to another within the UN complex.
Prepares furniture to be moved.
Reads floors plans to move the furniture in its correct location.
Instructs and directs movers under his supervision to perform different tasks to achieve the needs of staff members being relocated.
Assists in the replacement of furniture and equipment returning the old items to stock.
Assists in the moves of tables, chairs for the setting up and dismantling of platforms and stages to accommodate the different events and functions held in the Secretariat.
May act as Working Leader Assistant in his absence.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

High School or equivalent Trade School diploma is required.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in office accommodation, moving or related area is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. A staff member subject to local recruitment shall not be eligible for the allowances or benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.
Appointment against this position is for an initial period of one year.
Passing the Trades and Crafts Test (TCT) is a prerequisite for recruitment in the Trades and Crafts category in the United Nations Secretariat. Applicants who have not passed the TC test at the time of application may be invited for the test after submitting an application.
