Position description

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India, and the United States, is seeking a detail-oriented Social Media Assistant to join its communications team in Washington.

The primary responsibility of the Social Media Assistant will be to develop and execute Carnegie's day-to-day social media strategy. Duties will include developing short and long-term social media plans for programs and individual scholars, working with communications teams at our centers around the world to develop social media plans, managing the Carnegie social media platforms and identifying new platforms that present opportunities for Carnegie content.  In addition, this position will manage our Google ads account and social media advertising operations.

The ideal candidate will be creative and organized and possess excellent attention to detail, strong computer skills, excellent writing and editing skills, and be able to work independently to solve problems and complete projects quickly without sacrificing quality and accuracy.  Experience working on both paid and organic social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter, and an interest in global affairs is strongly desirable. Knowledge of creating graphics, such as pull-quotes, for posting on social media is a plus.
