Position description


·      Direct a wide range of Track 2 activities. Specific duties include:

o  Identify critical issues to be addressed that would directly further the mission and goals of the Foundation.

o  Develop creative methods and plans for addressing the issues.

o  Identify and pursue funding for proposed activities.

o  Lead the implementation of activities.

·      Manage the visit of major delegations to Texas and other U.S. locales by Chinese delegations and U.S. experts on China.

·      Lead the Foundation’s social media presence, including devising an overall social media strategy and implementing a system for Foundation leadership’s social media presence.

·      Serve as the overall programmatic lead for the George H. W. Bush Conference on U.S.-China Relations.

·      Direct the Foundation’s research activities. Specific duties include:

o  Establish a network of fellows.

o  Identify research-oriented activities that would directly further the mission and goals of the Foundation.

o  Lead the implementation of activities.

·      Represent the Foundation in communications and meetings with key interlocutors and stakeholders in Washington, DC.


  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferred Master's degree in Asian or international affairs or a related field.
  • Minimum five to eight years of relevant experience directly related to the essential functions of this position.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in oral Mandarin Chinese and written Chinese.
  • Proven familiarity with and use of social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, and others.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and authority.
  • Team player excited to working in a start-up environment.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Some travel required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with establishing communications, forging partnerships, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and organizations in the United States, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • Supervisory and administrative experience.
