ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers) is a world-renowned, member-based professional organization focused on serving the technical, educational and other programmatic needs of the engineering and technology communities on a worldwide basis. ASME generates approximately $115 million annually from the sale of products and services and provides a wide range of mission focused programs and activities. 

We are currently looking for a Program Manager, International Relations in our Washington, D.C. office. 

The Program Manager, International Relations will be responsible for advancing the Society’s international activities. This role will develop and implement programs to increase ASME’s presence and growth around the world. The Program Manager, International Relations will provide support to ASME’s international offices, programs and events in China and India. The Program Manager will work with entities such as trade and industry organizations and government agencies both in the United States and around the world. 
 

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, policy, economics, marketing, or equivalent additional experience, plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience involving international commerce and government affairs. An advanced degree is also preferred. Some global travel is required for this role. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in the following skills and competencies:
 

  • Written and oral communication skills, including with global audiences
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Computer and tech savvy – including MS Office, web, social media
  • Organizational skills; managing multiple, time-sensitive priorities and a high volume of projects while meeting deadlines
  • Working independently, with minimal supervision, to achieve organizational objectives
  • Presentation and platform skills
  • Cultural awareness and stakeholder relationship management skills within global communities
