Position description

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is seeking a Vice President for Communications and Strategy - a senior management role at a renowned international affairs institution with six global centers in Washington, D.C, Moscow, Brussels, Beijing, Beirut, and New Delhi.

The VP is based in Washington and oversees a global staff of 30 professionals charged with the development of a communications strategy for the institution that delivers Carnegie ’s global, independent, and strategic perspective and ideas to decisionmakers around the world.

The Communications team has lead responsibility on overseeing and implementing media outreach, editing of short and long-form publications, hosting and promoting events, website management, and other digital communications including social media, podcasts, and video content. The VP is a member of Carnegie’s Executive Management Group, a crucial partner to Carnegie scholars, and a regular participant in Board of Trustees meetings. 

The right candidate needs to be committed to Carnegie’s mission and its pursuit of nonpartisan, independent, and innovative work on the most consequential issues for international peace and prosperity. That commitment needs to be paired with superb management experience, deep public policy expertise, outstanding writing and communication skills, wide networks in government and the press, and proven capacity to operate in diverse international media and policy environments.
