Position description

The Director of Development works closely with the President, Program Directors, Director of Operations and Finance, and other staff and interns in leading and implementing the fundraising strategy for the Center for International Policy. This includes building and maintaining a coherent fundraising infrastructure, including durable systems for managing donor relations at all levels from small to large individual contributors and foundations.

The Center is willing to invest in the professional development of its Development Director to ensure success in this role.  

Relationships: The Director of Development reports directly to the President.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the President to assess and adjust the annual fundraising strategy, including the creation of new materials in support of communications with prospective and current donors and strengthening fundraising processes. 
  • Identify new sources of foundation funding and lead the development of general support grant proposals.
  • Coordinate with the President to plan and carry out an annual schedule of major donor visits.
  • Coordinate with program directors to plan annual program fundraising efforts, assist with proposal development and track foundation communications, reporting and submission deadlines.
  • Serve as the staff liaison for the board development committee.
  • Oversee implementation of all fundraising activities detailed above and outreach mailings, direct mail campaigns and online appeals.
  • Organize, implement and oversee major donor fundraising events.
  • Supervise interns as they track and analyze all contributions to CIP in donor database, generate reports, receipts and any other data as needed and engage in research to identify additional donor prospects. 
  • Maintain all foundation and major donor files.

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience; range of $80,000-$85,000.
