Position description

This position is with Headquarters, US Army Europe, G-3, with duty station in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Command Liaison Officer Headquarters (HQ), United States Army Europe (USAREUR), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3.
  • Formulate strategic plans, develop policy briefings and itineraries for official visitors to HQ USAREUR, and preparing the Commanding General (CG) and Deputy Commanding General (DCG) for meetings, testimony, and briefings.
  • Maintain strong and effective liaison and relationships between USAREUR and the US Congress, Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Army (DA), other government agencies, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and other partner nations.
  • Analyze, research, and formulate official responses to requests from members of Congress, Congressional Committees and high ranking staff within DoD.

Travel Required

50% or less - Travel in Temporary Duty Status of up to 30% of the time may be required, stateside and to overseas locations.

Conditions of Employment

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • A pre-employment Drug Test and periodic testing thereafter is required.
  • Travel in Temporary Duty Status of up to 30% of the time may be required, stateside and to overseas locations.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually thereafter.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) understanding of European military operational and strategic environment; 2) analyze/review legislative actions for possible impact on military planning/programs; and 3) knowledge of international relations and political/military issues.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
