The University of Virginia's program in Political Philosophy, Policy & Law (PPL) invites applications for a DeOlazarra Fellow for the academic year beginning August 2020. PPL is a selective interdisciplinary undergraduate major in which fourth year students develop substantial research projects in the context of a capstone seminar. The research associate will preside over this seminar during the spring semester as well as teach one fall semester undergraduate course in his or her area of interest.
A Ph.D. in Political Science or a related field is required. A Ph.D. from the University of Virginia Department of Philosophy or Politics, received from 2017 through October 2020, is preferred. Candidates must specialize in contemporary political theory/philosophy, particularly as it applies to the evaluation of important issues in public policy. A background in jurisprudence or legal theory is also desirable. Candidates should combine strong research potential with commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
