Director, Human Capital Business Partner, Guidehouse Managed Services

The Director, Human Capital Business Partner role is the front line human capital team leader and professional working directly with business leadership on all aspects of human capital including workforce management, talent development, employee experience, compensation, and change management. In this role, you will be expected to work collaboratively and in a consultative fashion with business leadership to effectively align workforce strategies and practices with business objectives. You must be able to create the synergy needed to provide the best opportunities for success for all parties.

This will include the development of business specific solutions in talent acquisition and management, capability advancement, succession planning, attrition, policy interpretation and compliance, performance management, and compensation management. You will be expected to provide insightful, confidential and business-focused guidance to leadership on all matters related to employee and organization development. This will be specific to the provision of services to clients through an outsourced services model where the client has hired Guidehouse to manage services on their behalf. A key part of the role will also include functioning as a change agent to the business, assisting in designing processes, process improvement and approaches to support and enable continued evolution of the organization to align with market conditions.

In addition to the critical connection to business leadership, the Director, Human Capital Business Partner will team closely with, and proactively communicate needs to, the Human Capital CoEs (Centers of Excellence) to develop integrated solutions. The Director will work collaboratively across Human Capital functions (compensation, benefits, recruiting, performance management, learning and development, etc.) to ensure delivery of value-added service to all employees that support business objectives.

This position reports to the Chief Human Capital Officer and will lead a team of 4 HCBPs across multiple sites in the US.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to help build a dynamic organization plan and execute constructive change from an acquisition to organic growth-oriented culture. Additionally, they will have a broader focus on metrics and monitoring/analyzing data and trends to identify potential opportunities of risk

Keys to success in this role include:

  • Analytical and critical thinking; must be able to relate to practice and team leaders who are highly credentialed, analytical by nature as well as by training and who apply intellectual rigor and critical analyses to all business issues and decisions
  • Incumbent must be able to lead as well as execute in a manner that is perceived to be people centric; effective; non-bureaucratic; and is marked by a high level of energy
  • Be able to keep current on evolving legal compliance, management policies, processes and practices, and work to ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning employment practices, employee relations, etc.
  • Experience with acquisition due diligence and integration as well as major contract implementation
  • Strong business acumen, superior ability to communicate vision, lead change, and deliver results
  • Will be expected to engage deeply on all facets of talent acquisition, compensation management, staffing and management related activities and understand the depth and nuance of capabilities within and across the organization
  • Must be able to develop and propose creative, novel and impactful talent solutions that support business objectives and strike an appropriate balance between building firm capability, speed of delivery, cost sensitivity and specificity of requirements
  • The effective and efficient deployment and management of staff is critical to successful business unit execution and financial success for the firm; a passion for talent utilization is vital for this role
  • Familiarity with public company protocols
  • An ability to operate effectively and succeed within a changing, fast paced matrix environment with multiple cultures and stakeholders
  • A track record around building consensus and resolving conflicts in a complex organization
  • Willingness to take ownership of tasks, as well as to ability to lead and develop staff and delegate effectively


  • Bachelor's Degree is required with a strong preference given to candidates with a degree in Business or Human Resources, M.B.A. a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen. At least 10 years of Human Capital generalist experience and a minimum of 3 + years’ experience in Human Capital functional roles with expertise in organization development/effectiveness and leadership development preferred.
  • Experience working in a Human Capital function with shared service delivery and strategic business partner model preferred
  • Strong history of quickly gaining credibility and partnering with business leaders.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization and proven ability to make sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external clients
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestic with potential to include international
