Position description

The American Bar Association (ABA) Center for Human Rights is seeking a short term paid consultant to support its Proxy Warfare Project.

The ABA Center for Human Rights recently released a report (see link below) on the Legal Framework Regulating Proxy Warfare, addressing whether gaps in the law are contributing to civilian casualties and protracted conflict.

Report (https://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/aba/administrative/human_rights/chr-proxy-warfare-report-2019.pdf)

We are now working to organize a side event at the United Nations General Assembly. The consultant will be asked to conduct outreach to panelists for the meeting, identify a sponsor and venue, and perform other tasks as related to the organization of the side event.

The ideal consultant will have had significant experience in public international law and policy, particularly the arms trade or civilian casualty mitigation and a past record of organizing events in this environment.
