We seek an enthusiastic, self-starter that has a passion for RPA’s mission and values and a commitment to excellence. The individual must have a strong nonprofit background with exceptional project management, client service orientation, and the ability to be a strong team participant. Candidate should demonstrate a commitment to RPA’s values of integrity, diversity, quality, and trust. We seek a candidate who has experience with funder collaboratives and the ability to translate strategy to implementation.


The Senior Advisor has a portfolio of assigned fiscal sponsorship projects and has the responsibility for developing and managing strategic partnerships with both the leadership of the project and the funders to the project. The Senior Advisor provides strategic counsel for assigned client relationships involving frequent interaction with clients and active coordination of project outcomes funded by various grants to the project.

The Senior Advisor is the lead on a relationship supported by other team members to handle service transactions, IT for project setup and maintenance, and coordination with Human Resources for employment-related matters.

The responsibilities include:

  • Manage a portfolio of projects, with or without project staff, utilizing strong project management skills, as needed
  • Inform and monitor annual operating budget; monthly budget and activities; and financial reports for assigned sponsored projects, in partnership with the Finance Team.
  • Participate in scheduled operations check-in calls with the executive staff of assigned sponsored projects, as needed.
  • Take the lead on the development of grant proposals, and submission of grant reports
  • Develop, review, and submit new business proposals
  • Coordinate and facilitate the on-boarding of new sponsored projects, including collaborating with RPA internal partners to manage expectations for success
  • Monitor and serve as the liaison for sponsored projects’ inquiries, requests or issues related to support services (Finance, HR, and IT)
  • Coordinate and inform priorities for Associates supporting projects for delivery of contracts and grants
  • Participate in business development through identifying the potential business with funders and developing proposals
  • Build and manage the relationship between funders and project staff, and directly with funders and Advisory Board, as appropriate
  • Participate and support RPA-wide initiatives that further RPA’s mission


  • Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience with similar responsibilities.

Skills/ Knowledge

  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Accustomed to responding in a timely manner
  • Able to partner and manage diverse stakeholders (funders, consultants, senior execs, junior operations staff)
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize projects
  • Strong project management and operations skills
  • Knowledge of budgeting and reading financial statements
  • Familiarity with the nonprofit sector, including fiscal sponsorship and grantmaking organizations (Preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task and balance the workload of multiple projects and clients
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills; good judgment and ability to function independently
  • Ability to handle a large and diverse client portfolio
  • Comfortable engaging with client and staff at all levels


  • Must be willing to travel for client work as needed. Estimated travel less than 25% of the time.
