Position description

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by bringing its expertise and resources to bear where we can have the biggest impact. CSPI’s COVID-19 Evidence Hub is a clearinghouse of research hubs identifying work on treatments, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and effective public health measures. Dr. Peter G. Lurie’s Beyond the Curve Blog seeks to address the scientific, political, and human dimensions of the pandemic. And as America’s food and health watchdog, CSPI is working to stop the spread of disease, support vulnerable food chain workers, alleviate hunger by championing SNAP and other government programs, and hold accountable those who would exploit the crisis.

The COVID-19 pandemic has generated unprecedented global research innovation and collaboration, but the volume of research is challenging for scientists and decision makers to efficiently digest. We wanted to make the job easy for everyone. A number of dedicated COVID-19 websites serve as “evidence hubs,” to provide information on ongoing research studies and study results; others synthesize the emerging evidence. CSPI created a web directory to consolidate all of them in one place to facilitate access to these online evidence hubs and characterize them in near-real time. Our goal is to efficiently direct clinicians, researchers, public health agencies, journalists, and policy makers to the web sources most appropriate to their needs. We also hope to make the research enterprise more efficient by avoiding duplication of efforts.

CSPI seeks a public health professional to help maintain CSPI’s COVID Evidence Hub (https://cspinet.org/covid-19-evidence-hub) which includes the following tasks:

  • Update the content of the COVID Evidence Hub on at least biweekly basis.
  • Search the web for additional sites and add these to the database on at least a biweekly basis.
  • Update the section of the Hub website that provides an overview of all sites on the Hub on at least a biweekly basis.
  • Propose modifications to the website to enhance its effectiveness.
  • Assist CSPI’s Executive Director in other COVID-19 activities, as assigned, including proofreading and potentially drafting blog posts for the Beyond the Curve blog.

This is a part-time, contract position for approximately 10 hours per work. The rate of pay is $32-$35/hour.  This is a remote contract position and is available immediately.
