The Department of Political Science at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in International Affairs to begin August 2021. We seek a teacher-scholar who is dedicated to enhancing our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion while complementing existing faculty strengths. Preference will be given to candidates with a research specialty in the areas of: security studies, which include new and emergent technologies including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence; population studies including immigration policy and refugee flows; the intersection of science, technology and public policy; and, human security including issues of disaster management and/or climate change.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 4:4 load in the graduate and undergraduate curricula. A successful candidate will also work with the Center for the Advancement of Liberal Arts (CALA), and specifically the Interdisciplinary Incubator, to promote and grow our interdisciplinary minor in Global Studies.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Teaching responsibilities include our core Introduction to World Politics class, American Foreign Policy, and other courses reflecting the research interests outlined above.
An earned Ph.D. in Political Science from an accredited college or university is required by time of appointment. A minimum of 3 years teaching experience is required for this position.
