Position description

We are a small international organisation looking for a Part Time Accountant (20 hrs p/w) to manage all the organisation’s financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits. The position has the potential to develop into a full time position as the organisation grows.

The Accountant’s responsibilities will also include pay roll, preparing documents for external audit, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax repayments for US staff members. Ultimately, you will provide the Executive Director with accurate quantitative information on our financial position, liquidity and the cash flows of our business and will work closely with him on financial matters and to produce the annual budget and monitor performance against it.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, closely knit team and to develop the position into a full-time role in a growing organisation.  To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes and above all, be a team player. 

Remuneration will depend on experience and the position also has the potential to attract generous benefits and leave after a probation period.


  • Manage all accounting transactions
  • Prepare budget forecasts and end of month performance against budget statements
  • Publish financial statements in time
  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivables
  • Ensure timely bank payments
  • Compute taxes and prepare tax remunerations for US citizens
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
  • Audit financial transactions and documents
  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
  • Develop financial policies and regulations


  • Work experience as an Accountant
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree
  • Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus as is having worked in an international organisation with an understanding of tax procedures
