Are you passionate about protecting our planet? Do you have the skills and creativity to communicate this challenge – and the solutions – to the European Union and its citizens?
About Global Witness
For over 25 years, Global Witness has fought to end environmental and human rights abuses driven by political and corporate elites. Through bold and hard-hitting investigations, campaigning, and advocacy, we have catalysed change across the world to challenge the systems that enable these harms.
Our work is needed now more than ever.
For us to succeed, we need to embody the principles we fight for, strive for greater cohesion, solidarity, and inclusion internally and across civil society and stay ahead of the curve by learning from allies and other social and political movements that share our mission.
Only together can we protect one another and the planet to build a better, more just future.
About the role
We’re looking for a Communications expert to work with our EU facing teams, to protect our climate from toxic fossil fuel companies, with a specific focus on fossil gas.
You’ll be responsible for helping to shape our communication strategy throughout the European Union and supporting the implementation of that strategy. Working closely with our campaigners in Brussels, and our US/UK based communications team, your tasks will involve drafting press releases, meeting journalists, identifying opportunities for us to engage with the salient stories of the day, as well as supporting campaigners to make sure their work is heard.
You’ll be a creative individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Collaborative by nature, you’ll work with campaign and policy colleagues to define objectives, consider audiences and choose the right communication channels to get the best possible campaign results.
You’ll also have an excellent understanding of the Brussels media landscape, including some well-established journalist contacts, as well as experience of engaging with other EU-based stakeholders.
The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and allies is critical in this role, so you must thrive in an environment where you frequently work with others to achieve impact.
