Position description

The mission of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) is to contribute to the building of a European Union where people in all our regions and cities can realise their full potential. DG REGIO manages the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund. DG REGIO proposes a position of Principal Adviser for International Relations who will define and coordinate the international strategy of the Directorate-General.


Your responsibilities:

  • Defining the international strategy and ensuring the implementation of relevant actions;
  • Representing the Directorate-General in the policy dialogues on regional and urban matters with third countries;
  • Ensuring the coordination with the associated services. 


Your skills:

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, sound political judgement and ability to generate and implement new ideas;
  • Solid understanding of international relations in the context of EU cohesion policy;
  • Strong negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
