Position description

Facebook is seeking a strategic thinker to join our Turkey Public Policy team as a Public Policy Manager. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Facebook's mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Facebook’s policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers and stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups.

Head of Policy Risk and Issues Management, MENAT Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships externally with policymakers, industry leaders and civil society organizations in predefined conflict zones with high risk for FB users

  • Support the regional MENA Public Policy Director internally and externally and advise him on global best practices on policy risks and recommendations to enhance and promote FB integrity

  • Manage dynamic and changing geographic areas of responsibility within MENAT, based on evolving risks and issues

  • Cross-functionally work with internal stakeholders such as communications, legal and the broader policy team

  • Advocate, internally and externally, policy positions that keep Facebook and the broader technology industry competitive and innovative

  • Represent Facebook in meetings with external policymakers and stakeholders

  • Develop and execute strategies for engaging with external policymakers and civil society leaders around issues important to Facebook and the people we serve

  • Communicate Facebook’s positions to policymakers and to external stakeholders

  • Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends and issues of importance to the company

  • Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings

  • Advise internal colleagues and teams on public policy matters to help guide the development of products, services and policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy or related field

  • 15+ year experience in the field including 5+ year experience in public policy and / or risk management in politics, human rights & humanitarian affairs & international relations, technology or media

  • Proven track record in policy partnership/campaign building in a matrix organization

  • Deep knowledge of the Middle East with additional international experience a strong asset

  • Superb English and Arabic verbal and written communications skills, other Middle Eastern languages will be a plus

  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven track record of people management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in policy on areas including privacy, content, safety/security, and social good
