Position description

Provide on-site policy analysis and support to a military headquarters organization on security cooperation programs and activities, including security force assistance and security assistance. Research and understand federal legislation and regulations, including the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and Department of Defense (DoD) policies and directives. Determine impact to client security cooperation policy and programs. Work with DoD entities to support implementation of NDAA-directed security cooperation reforms, including security cooperation workforce development and its associated certification program. Develop client-ready deliverables for a variety of audiences across the DoD, including deliverables for the highest leadership levels. Organize and facilitate meetings, conference calls, and working groups, including generating after action reports and tracking implementation of agreed–to items.


  • 3+ years of experience with security cooperation or security assistance
  • 2+ years of experience working with DoD entities
  • Experience with formal DoD staffing and coordination processes
  • Knowledge of U.S.C. Title 10, Chapter 16 Security Cooperation authorities and recent changes due to FY17 NDAA
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
  • Ability to work directly with GO/SES-level leadership
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with working with the US Marine Corps
  • Experience in working at the component or headquarters level of a military command
  • Experience as a security cooperation planner or activity manager
  • Experience with international work through previous study or work abroad
  • BA or BS degree in International Affairs or Political Science preferred; MA or MS degree a plus
