ROLE of the POSITION

The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications from well-qualified individuals for two full-time, nine-month tenure-track positions in International Relations. While the areas of specialization are open, we have identified primary needs in (1) International Political Economy, and (2) Interstate War and Conflict Processes. Candidates with an expertise in either or both of these areas, who also have a background in International Organizations, are highly desired.  The two positions will be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing fall 2022. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate courses and graduate courses in International Relations and the undergraduate culminating experience course. The ability to contribute to the department's needs in political methodology is welcomed, as well as evidence of the potential to obtain external funding. Other responsibilities include engaging in research leading to scholarly, peer-reviewed publications, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and providing appropriate levels of service at the department, college, and university levels. The department is interested in candidates whose research, teaching, and/or service experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. The department offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Political Science.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university awarded by the time of appointment.  Candidates are expected to have some teaching experience, evidence of research productivity, and the ability to develop a research agenda resulting in publications in high quality outlets.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
