Sr. Manager - Government & Corporate Affairs - UK & Ireland

The Senior Manager Government & Corporate Affairs UK and Ireland takes ownership for ongoing and new UK/Irish initiatives, legislation, and day-to-day issues which are relevant for Expedia Group in the region. You will lead on government and corporate affairs projects in your markets such as online travel agent and short-term rental regulation initiatives. You will also support the Director of Government & Corporate Affairs Northern Europe (this region also includes Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Russia and Turkey) with key European/EU projects and lead on European/EU issues with a national dimension for the UK/IRE and other selected Northern European markets, as well as support the wider team and/or take ownership for other global issues.


The position is based from our office in London.


What You’ll Do:

  • Support the organization’s policies and objectives across Expedia Group’s supply organisation and brands in online travel distribution
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory activities, and develop company positions and approaches
  • Direct and coordinate matters related to UK/Ireland and Northern European government affairs and regulations as well as analyse proposed legislative actions to determine business impact
  • Provide relevant, timely and insightful advice on legislation with direct relevance to Expedia Group internally and help drive required follow-up actions
  • Craft and implement Expedia Group supply and brands’ strategy to communicate effectively with various bodies of the UK/IRE administration and other relevant partners
  • Represent EG in selected UK/IRE trade associations and at conferences or workshops
  • Coordinate campaign efforts at a national level, including producing position papers and presentations
  • Provide support and coordination to the Director of Government & Corporate Affairs Northern Europe on issues regarding the impact of government's activities
  • Manage the network of external advisors and consultants


Who You Are:

  • University degree (legal, economic or international relations); or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience working with UK or IRE government institutions and in advocacy work towards key decision-makers, particularly in government and parliament
  • Experienced in collaborating with cross divisional business teams as subject matter expert on regulatory issues and government relations
  • Able to identify the effects of proposed legislative initiatives and identify threats and opportunities
  • Able to build strong and effective relationships through positive communication, integrity and trust
  • A hardworking team member with a positive can-do attitude, who is able to interact well internally across the various lines of business and corporate divisions
  • Experienced in managing sophisticated, diverse and adaptable to ever-changing environments
  • Experienced in the technology, e-commerce or travel industry is desirable
  • Fluent in English (additional languages a plus)
