Position description

ESG solutions enable investors to develop and integrate responsible investing policies and practices, engage on responsible investment issues, and monitor portfolio company practices through screening solutions. It also provides climate data, analytics, and advisory services to help financial market participants understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks across all asset classes. In addition, ESG solutions cover corporate and country ESG research and ratings enabling its clients to identify material social and environmental risks and opportunities.

 

Position Overview

The Sustainable Finance team of ISS ESG is seeking a specialist to join its team immediately. This unit provides critical sustainability opinions on Green, Social and Sustainability-Linked Bonds and delivers training to various Debt Capital Market stakeholders looking to advance their ESG strategy. Fluency in Spanish is required.


This ESG Consultant will utilize his/ her in depth knowledge on environmental and social topics to engage with various stakeholders. Their role will help drive the development of sustainable finance. The successful candidate will contribute to product and methodology development, pilot consulting and training for bond issuers, and support the high growth of the business. Candidates should have a passion for sustainability, enjoy fast-paced and multicultural team work, and have a strong analytical and critical mindset.


The wider ISS ESG Climate Solutions unit provides data, analytics and consulting services to support investors and governments and help them understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks. As part of this team, the ESG Consultant will gain robust expertise in climate change impacts on investments across all asset classes. He/ she will interact daily with colleagues from other units and with clients around the globe.

 

Responsibilities :

  • Manage Second Party Opinion projects by conducting ESG analysis of Green, Social and Sustainability-Linked Bonds including assessment of the strategy of bond issuers, managing client relationship and producing reports
  • Manage the implementation of consulting, training and bespoke mandates on sustainable financing strategies for a variety of Debt Capital Market players
  • Manage product and methodology development initiatives of ISS ESG Sustainable Finance team including monitoring various regulatory developments
  • Closely interact with the Sales team on client requests
  • Produce content related to Sustainable Bonds

 

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience relating to sustainability/ESG consulting, environmental consulting, investment carbon footprinting, climate impact assessments of investments, GHG-accounting, or Life Cycle Analysis is required
  • Advanced university degree ideally in environmental science, engineering, economics, international relations.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability and specific knowledge in Green & Social Bonds, sustainable finance or analysis of corporate sustainability strategy is a requirement
  • Excellent analytical skills and conceptual thinking aptitude
  • Strong project management/organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent oral and written command of English and Spanish is required (Portuguese is a bonus)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customer-first attitude
  • Experience in working successfully in client facing roles is required
  • Strong computer literacy with previous experience and excellent knowledge of MS Office (including Excel)
  • Willingness to work with a highly collaborative, flexible and innovative team across different locations
