Position description

Ecorys is a leading international research and consultancy company addressing society's key challenges. With world-class research-based consultancy, we help public and private clients make and implement informed decisions leading to a positive impact on society. We support our clients with sound analysis and inspiring ideas, practical solutions and delivery of projects for complex market, policy and management issues. Parallel to our continued growth, we are now seeking a Consultant to join our ‘Better Regulation and Methodologies’ team.

Your workplace environment

You will join the ‘Better Regulation and Methodologies’ team, which is based in Brussels. We are a cross-cutting research and consultancy team that leads the way on Ecorys’ methodologies, providing our expertise and support on a range of topics. As such, we work closely with and provide linkages between different teams of the Brussels office and the wider Ecorys company. Working horizontally across thematic areas, we also create a brand in more specialised areas, including regional and rural development, and on environmental topics. We contribute to improving EU public policy and provide solid qualitative and quantitative research with practical value for our clients (e.g. the European Commission, EIB, European Parliament).

What will you be doing?

Together with the team, you will prepare proposals and contribute to research projects in the fields of evaluations and impact assessments and beyond. This involves the development of research methods, and the design and implementation of projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. Most of the projects will be conducted on behalf of the European Commission or related institutions and often involve multiple partners. You will also contribute to Ecorys communication and outreach activities, involving presentations at conferences and workshops. You will grow and maintain a network of experts and partners and collaborate with colleagues throughout Ecorys. Depending on your experience and skills, we will discuss and agree with you the exact portfolio of your tasks and a career path for your future development in the company.

  • A university degree in economics, political science, international relations, human geography, statistics, or a related field;
  • At least 2 to 3 years of work experience in delivering analytical work (ideally for EU institutions);
  • Experience with evaluations and impact assessments;
  • Good visualisation skills (graphs, dashboards, etc.);
  • An excellent level of written and spoken English developed through an extended period of study or work experience in an English-speaking environment;
  • Strong analytical and data processing skills;
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to work on a wide range of issues;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on own initiative, to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • A curious mind.

  • Experience with statistical software tools (e.g. R, Stata);
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • A good understanding of the functioning of EU institutions and key EU policies.
