Global Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens who are using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030. Through our mix of content and events, grassroots organizing, and our action platform, we are building a movement to end poverty. We organize massive global campaigns to amplify the actions of Global Citizens from around the world. Global Citizen is headquartered in New York, with offices in Canada, South Africa, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The organization was co-founded by Hugh Evans, Simon Moss, Wei Soo in 2008.

Role Overview

Global Citizen is seeking a Staff Accountant, who will be responsible for the work required to support the accounting and financial processes of the organization. Working under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate recording of transactions into the organization's financial system (Saga Intacct).

The incumbent should be a highly motivated self-starter who understands the nuances of non-profit accounting.


  • Process Vendor invoices and employee out of pocket expenses
  • Process wire payments for domestic and international vendors
  • Set up Accrualify and Expensify account for new employees
  • Prepare Bank reconciliation
  • Prepare 1099 forms
  • Assist employees and vendors with issues related to payments
  • Provide finance and accounting assistance as needed


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • At least 2-year experience
  • Detail Oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Sage Intacct, preferred
  • The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, work independently and collaboratively
