  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or 2+ years’ equivalent experience;
  • Foundational international security expertise and familiarity with AWS Infrastructure;
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience with a proven track record of security risk identification;
  • Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of leadership involving both business and technical sides of the business;
  • An eagerness to further develop analytical skills and working with quantitative data;

Job summary 
Are you interested in working at the intersection of geopolitics, physical security, regulatory risk, and information security? AWS Security’s Global Expansion Intelligence and Risk (GEIR) team is looking for a junior intelligence analyst with an interest in corporate security and risk to assist with global AWS expansion efforts. The junior intelligence analyst will join a team of intelligence analysts to conduct strategic-level country risk assessments, tactical-level site risk assessments, and everything in between to ensure that AWS continues to provide the most secure cloud operating environment to customers. 

A successful candidate will be expected to be comfortable with uncertainty, fluid operating environments, and qualitative and quantitative risk methodologies in order to contribute to the delivery of risk assessments. A successful candidate will be expected to have a demonstrated interest in physical security, new and disruptive technologies such as the AWS Cloud, and to develop data-analytic rigor and precision in support of new country expansion and ad-hoc intelligence risk assessments. 

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Conduct open-source, introductory research in support of country- and site-level assessments in support of AWS Infrastructure expansion efforts;
  • Collect and analyze historic data, identify trend lines and security dynamics, contribute to risk forecasting, and support the identification and development of discrete, actionable mitigations;
  • Assemble both qualitative and quantitative data in support of risk determinations for teammates, stakeholders, and senior leadership;
  • Integrate with multiple teams and stakeholders and escalate action items when appropriate;
  • Own and lead activities, to include authoring reports, to completion by appropriate deadlines;

This position can either be located in Seattle, WA or Herndon, VA.

About the team 
At AWS, our intelligence and security teams solve the world’s most challenging problems. Paramount to our success is ensuring that customer data is secure with AWS. We are looking for a candidate to join our Global Expansion Intelligence and Risk team as a security analyst and risk assessor to drive organization wide security enhancements. This role will work closely with security, legal, and service teams to identify how geopolitical, geophysical and regulatory requirements in emerging markets translate into security risk. 
 

  • Proficiency in a second language and experience living in a non-North American country;
  • Experience advising project teams or leaders on IT, infrastructure or general security matters;
  • Ability to credibly coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated successful track record across numerous enterprise wide programs with a proven track record of security risk remediation;
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role;
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
