Position description

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Iowa seeks to hire a visiting faculty member whose professional experience lies in strategic communication. This position is a three-year appointment, renewable every year. The successful candidate will have an M.A. in Mass Communication or a related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience and have demonstrated expertise in public relations, social media marketing, content marketing, strategic communication design/planning, advertising, nonprofit communications, or a related area. Teaching experience at the university level is preferred. This person will teach four courses per semester, which may include courses in social media marketing, content marketing, and strategic communication writing, among others. Dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications, there may also be an opportunity to teach in the School’s online Master’s Program in Strategic Communication.

Education Requirement
M.A. in Mass Communication or a related discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the university level.  Experience in online education.  Demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized communities and with students holding a range of worldviews.
