Job Summary:

West Texas A&M University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Political Science beginning Fall 2022. Candidates must have a doctorate in Political Science or International Relations. ABDs will be considered.

The successful applicant will teach international affairs courses in WTAMU’s political science program, as well as introductory government courses. This is a tenure-track position with expectations of scholarly research productivity and service to the department and University. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach International Relations and introductory courses in either American government or State/Local government, along with courses in their area(s) of expertise. Area(s) of expertise is open. The teaching load will be 3/ 3. The successful candidate will also serve as an advisor to students in the program. The position is open until filled. Review of applications begins May 23rd , 2022. Priority will be given to applications received by May 20, 2022.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Terminal degree in Political Science or International Relations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness both online and in traditional classroom settings
  • Demonstrated ability to balance a 3/3 teaching load, scholarly research, and service
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate into a small academic department and work as a team player

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching and advising a diverse study body, including First Generation students
  • Experience teaching introductory government courses, both online and in traditional settings
  • Experience teaching methodology courses
