Position description

Winrock International (Winrock) is a non-profit organization that works around the world to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment. Winrock strengthens the capacity of women, children, youth, civil society organizations, and businesses to actively participate in sustainable development and to positively impact society.

Position Purpose:

Addressing and adapting to a changing climate is a strategic priority for Winrock and within the Climate field, helping companies and other organizations achieve their net zero objectives is potentially a key revenue and reputational growth opportunity for Winrock.  By the end of 2020, 21% of the world’s 2,000 largest public companies had publicly committed to this goal and set Net Zero targets.  These companies together represent annual sales of nearly $14 trillion. In 2021, Net Zero pledges covered 68% of the global economy, up from 16% in 2019, a remarkable increase in just two years. However, many companies do not have detailed implementation plans or the capacity to develop or execute their net zero objectives. Many competing consulting firms are seeking to fill this void in expertise and capacity.

Growing Net Zero Climate Services would also help Winrock achieve its diversification objectives.  To realize the potential of the market for net zero services, Winrock needs to invest proactively in staff that can help market our services and serve clients.  If we wait too long to hire staff, we will not realize the full potential of this opportunity and we will not be able to adequately serve clients. Winrock is competing with other consulting companies, both small and large, who already have large teams focused on net zero services.
