Position description

The Department of Political Science offers new Ph.D.'s from the UCD Department of Political Science the opportunity to apply for one-year, non-renewable appointments as Recent Ph.D. Lecturers. This program is housed entirely within the Department of Political Science, and Recent Ph.D. Lecturers will teach Political Science courses only. The number of positions and the percentage of time offered will depend upon funding and the number of courses available. A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,259-$68,247.

The primary purpose of these appointments is to help recent Ph.D.'s with demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching to become more competitive in the increasingly challenging and difficult job market. By gaining additional teaching experience and providing time to work on their scholarship while applying for and before beginning tenure-track job, these positions will provide important opportunities for professional development as recent Ph.D.'s transition from graduate school to permanent positions.

 

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

To be eligible for appointment, dissertations must be filed with Graduate Studies by September 8, 2023. New Ph.D.s from the Department of Political Science, UC Davis.

Must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching Political Science courses
