Eurogroup for Animals is the pan-European animal protection organisation which unites the voices of foremost national and international organisations. We work to improve the welfare of as many animals as possible by leading and delivering coordinated advocacy and campaigns at European level. Eurogroup for Animals uses its knowledge and expertise to challenge EU decision makers and bring about positive change. By uniting our members and working together we magnify national activities to get our message across at European level.

Purpose of the role

We have a very exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to support relations with our 100 member organisations in Europe and beyond. The animal protection movement is growing from strength to strength and Eurogroup for Animals aims to make all those forces count at EU level and function as the central meeting hub for the animal protection movement. The Membership Coordinator is responsible for supporting a thriving membership aiming at maximum impact for animals.

The Membership Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring that our members experience an effective journey with us and maintains relations with potential new members.

S/he reports to the CEO and is part of the Development Team. S/he works closely with the “Executive Assistant to the CEO and Membership Assistant” (hereafter referred to as “Membership Assistant”).

Primary responsibilities

Support members

  • Update and implement our membership engagement strategy and annual engagement cycle;
  • Liaise with members to enhance their membership experience, optimise retention, and support our overall approach to communication and interaction with members;
  • Support and develop strategic projects with members;
  • Support financial and other statutory membership processes;
  • Ensure membership data are always up to date in our CRM system (Salesforce) and further improve systems and tools;
  • Assist with member organisations’ exposure through our public facing channels.

Membership recruitment

  • Identify and recruit potential new members in Europe, deal with all enquiries about membership, process membership applications and on-board new members;
  • Collate and produce membership recruitment and retention reports including analysis of trends, and member satisfaction.

Person specification

Skills and experience

  • Higher education/university degree in a relevant functional field such as fundraising, communications or marketing;
  • At least 5 years professional experience, preferably in a membership context or an account management role;
  • Strong people and interpersonal skills including relationship and partnership building, excellent customer service skills;
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement, developing and maintaining stakeholder networks using multi-channel communications;
  • Proficiency in analysing and drawing conclusions from the financial reports and annual accounts of other organisations;
  • Excellent computer proficiency (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office);
  • Experience of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system such as Salesforce or equivalent;
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written);
  • Proficiency in additional European languages is desirable.

Contract

  • Permanent, full-time position (38h per week);
  • Based at Eurogroup for Animals office in Brussels;
  • Start date: as soon as possible.
